When talking about the human body have you ever heard the phrase It's all connected? While that is true! The Pelvic Floor is the foundation of what is known as the "core". It is called the core because the pelvic floor connect the abdominals, spine, and hips. Overall, they have a direct impact on how your body functions and performs. Muscles of the pelvic floor also control the bladder, bowels, and impact sexual function. When the muscles in the pelvic floor aren’t functioning normally it may lead to issues with digestion, incontinence, or sexual dysfunction. The good news is the pelvic floor muscles respond incredibly well to Physical Therapy (PT) treatment. Pelvic floor PT helps to restore the length-tension relationship of your pelvic floor muscles, relieving pain, improving function, and restoring optimal whole-body performance.
At Core Essentials Physical Therapy, we are committed to treating pelvic floor issues with sensitivity and working to meet each individuals needs and goals!

The first session is your evaluation. It will be 60 minutes long and it will cover a lot! You will be in a private treatment space with your Physical Therapist and if you are okay with it your Physical therapy Assistant who is also trained in Pelvic Health. This allows us as a team to get to know you from day one!
At this time we will give you the floor to tell us your story, go over an in depth medical history, and discuss your goals. Following this we will go over an in depth anatomy of the pelvic floor to help you to understand your body and perform a head to toe evaluation. Often times Pelvic Floor Dysfunction requires an internal pelvic exam. Don't Panic! We will discuss the process with you. This is ALWAYS your body and you can say no! An internal assessment allows us to collect the most information, but like we said this is always your body and you are in charge.
